Is It Safe To Visit The Dentist During COVID-19? Keeping You Safe At Our Office

While vaccinations have helped control COVID-19, it’s still a major concern for many Americans, partially due to new variants like the Delta variant. So you may be wondering if it’s safe to come to Glen Valley Dentistry for your appointment with Dr. Shaun Williams.

The answer is yes! And in this blog, we’ll discuss just a few of the precautions we’re taking to keep you safe during COVID-19. Read on, and see how we’re protecting our staff and patients.

COVID-19 Screening And The Patient Check-In Process

A few days before your appointment, you’ll be contacted by our team and will need to answer a quick questionnaire about how you’re feeling, any recent exposure to COVID-19, and your recent travel habits. You’ll be asked these questions again when you check in at our office.

When you arrive, you’ll park and stay in your car, then call our office to let us know you’ve arrived. We’ll call you back when it’s time to come in. We ask that you wear a mask and use hand sanitizer when you enter our office. All patients and staff will also have their temperature taken upon entry. Then, you’ll be taken directly to your operatory, and your appointment will begin! It’s just that simple.

Social Distancing At Our Office

We have changed our patient scheduling to minimize the number of people in our office at any given time. We have also adjusted our waiting area to ensure proper distancing, and have removed hard-to-clean items like toys and magazines.

In addition, we ask that you come alone to your appointment unless you need assistance or are supervising a minor. This ensures that we maintain adequate distancing in our waiting areas. We also are regularly cleaning and disinfecting all common areas and frequently-touched surfaces.

Protecting Our Staff With PPE

We have highly encouraged all of our team members to be vaccinated against COVID-19, and we are wearing all necessary PPE to protect ourselves and keep you safe. We have installed sneeze guards in our reception area for additional protection.

Depending on your procedure, your dental team will be wearing masks and eye protection, as well as additional PPE like caps, gowns, and shoe coverings. All PPE is properly disposed of or stored for reprocessing between seeing each patient.

HEPA Air Filters For Your Safety

We have invested in powerful HEPA air filters for our reception area, common areas, and each patient operating room. These capture and destroy a wide variety of airborne particles and pathogens, including COVID-19, as well as viruses that cause the common cold and the flu. This helps ensure a clean and sanitary environment for our team and for our patients.
