WEAR AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR INVISALIGN ALIGNERS

Putting your aligners in:
• Make sure you have the proper aligners- the upper for the top teeth and the lower for your bottom teeth. Each aligner is engraved with a "U" for upper and an "L" for lower followed by the stage number.
•When inserting the aligners, gently push the aligners over you front teeth then apply equal pressure, using your fingertips, to the tops of your right and left back teeth until the aligner snaps into place.
• NOTE: DO NOT BITE your aligners into position- this may damage them.You can use the white straw to bite on, if you were given one at your appointment.

Aligner Removal:
• Using your fingers, start on one side at the back teeth and slowly work your way around to the other side.
Hint: If you have trouble, try prying from the inside of the teeth (next to the roof or floor of your mouth)
• To help prevent damage, avoid unnecessary removal.
• Do not use any sharp objects to remove your aligners.
• Immediately rinse aligners with water, shake off excess water, and store your aligners in the protective case provided with your starter kit.
NOTE: Use extra care in removing your aligners, particularly if multiple attachments are being used. Do not use excessive force to bend or twist an aligner to get it off. Consult with your doctor if your aligners are difficult to remove.

Daily Care and Maintenance of Aligners:
• Clean your aligners prior to each insertion. Use a soft toothbrush using water or a small amount of toothpaste.
• Rinse each aligner thoroughly with water after each cleaning.
• DO NOT soak them in mouthwash. This can damage the surface of the aligner, causing it to become dull or more visible.

Oral Hygiene:
• Remove you aligners for eating an drinking, except when drinking water.
• Brush and Floss your teeth after each meal r snack prior to re-inserting your aligners.
• Regular dental check ups and cleanings are recommended for the continued health of your teeth and gums.

Storing your Aligners:

• Two aligner cases are included in your starter kit. We recommend that you store your Invisalign aligners in a case when not in your mouth. This will help protect them from loss and damage.
• Designate your blue aligner case for your "current stage."
• When it is time to switch up to the next stage, transfer the previous aligners to the red case. Always keep the most recently used aligners in this case. If your current aligner is lost or broken, you doctor may recommend that you temporarily go back one stage and use the aligners in the red case while a replacement is being made.

APPOINTMENTS FOR INVISALIGN

Consultation Appointment:
A complimentary consultation appointment will be your first step to invisalign. Study models of your mouth will have been taken and examined so the dentist will be able to share with you the diagnosis of treatment. At this time, we will also discuss what you would like invisalign to accomplish for your smile and have any of your other questions answered. There is no fee with this appointment!

Records Appointment:
At your next appointment you will undergo a routine pre-treatment examination including a full mouth set of x-rays (these will only be taken if you do not have one within the last two years), a series of 8 different photos, and upper and lower impressions. The down payment will be collected at this time. This down payment is non refundable. However, if you decide to go through with the treatment this amount is applied towards the total cost of treatment. Your information is then sent to Align Dental Laboratory where it is scanned into a computer. The lab technicians then propose a treatment result specifically designed for you.

Confirmation Appointment: (clincheck) :
Once the doctor receives your treatment results, via email from Align laboratories, we will schedule you to return to our office to view the results. At this appointment, you and the doctor will go over your treatment results. If there are changes you would like to make, you are able to do so at this appointment. If any changes are made, another appointment is scheduled so you can view the new treatment results. However, if you are 100% satisfied with the results, we will process your request and the remaining balance for treatment iis due at this time. The aligners will arrive in 1-2 weeks.

Aligner Deliveries:
When we receive your aligners, you will return to our office for delivery and try in. You will be scheduled to return to our office in one week. At this appointment, we will check the aligners, answer any questions that you may have and deliver your next 3 sets of aligners. Another appointment will be scheduled in 7 weeks. At this 7 week appointment we will compare your teeth to the treatment from Align Technologies to make sure everything is moving as planned. You will also be given 3 more aligners and will return to our office in 6 weeks. This 6 weeks scheduling pattern will continue until your treatment is finished. Each appointment will only last 20-30 minutes and may vary if adjustments are needed.

Retainer Aligner:
When your last three aligners are delivered an appointment will be scheduled in 6 weeks, at this appointment we will be taking impressions to make your retainer and will take “after” photos. You will then wear your retainer 24 hours a day 7 days a week for 3 months. After three months you will return to our office again for evaluation of your teeth and retainer.
Note: Since teeth will always tend to shift, we recommend that you wear your retainers for life.
